On October 3, 1999, Cecil Morrell Boren was killed with his own gun. Kenneth Williams had been serving a life sentence for murdering a college cheerleader when he escaped. Wandering the countryside in his prison uniform, Kenneth found Cecil working in his vegetable garden. Kenneth took a rifle from the home and shot the 57-year-old grandfather several times in the chest, back, and head. He threw Cecil into a canal, stole his clothes, wedding ring, and truck, and headed for the state line.
