On September 25, 2014, Colleen Shirley Hufford was beheaded at work. Alton Nolen had just been fired from the factory after getting into an argument with a coworker over Alton's "not liking white people." He came back in with a large knife, approached Colleen from behind and severed the 54-year-old's head, and also stabbed the coworker he had been arguing with.
Explaining his actions, Alton said "I just felt oppressed by this woman." Authorities believe he mistook Colleen for another coworker who had offended him a few days earlier. He said, "It was three women in the office. I passed one of 'em 'cause I didn't feel oppressed by her. And I passed another one. I didn't feel oppressed by her. And went and beheaded [Colleen]."
