On September 22, 2017, Kenneth Ronald Starnes and Nancy Kearnes Starnes were killed in their home. Kareem Mitchell and Richard Holmes forced their way into the house and shot Kenneth and his mother Nancy each twice. They stole several valuable items, along with two cars. Police tracked the killers to the home of Kareem's sister Sharon Galvin, who had pawned some of the stolen items.
