On September 20, 2019, John Marvin Weed went out to a local fair with some of his family. There, John was approached by a group of youths who asked him for a dollar. When he refused, two teenage brothers punched John several times until he fell to the ground, where they spit on him. He soon died of his injuries.
The unnamed 15-year-old who landed the violent final punch was sentenced to "a long-term behavioral modification program." His 16-year-old brother was sentenced to probation and anger management.
