On September 19, 2014, Nancy Jo McClellan was preparing to leave a wedding when she was stabbed to death. After attacking her, 18-year-old Kamau Berlin attempted to steal Nancy's car but was interrupted and ran away. Nancy was found partially undressed, beaten with brass knuckles and stabbed in the neck.
