On September 18, 2011, Carissa Camille Horton and Ethan Scott Nichols were enjoying an evening in the park with one another. Jogging was one of the activities 18-year-old Carissa and her 21-year-old boyfriend Ethan loved to do together, but this time they were approached by two men who robbed them at gunpoint. Darren Price and Jerard Davis then forced the young couple to their knees and shot them each in the back of the head. As Ethan's sister tried to contact him over the following several hours, Darren sent her text messages from Ethan's phone, trying to throw off suspicion.
Less than an hour after Carissa and Ethan's bodies were discovered the next morning, Darren had an interview about the situation with a local TV news program. He said "I bring my kids out here to play. Got to raise the question, is it safe to even walk around this town with people just dying and stuff? It don't make me feel real easy and I stay close by here."
