On September 17, 2020, Wilma Hochstetler was shot on the side of the road. Wilma's husband had been on his way home from a construction job when he blew a tire, so Wilma and the youngest of their four children came to bring him a spare. While they were working on the vehicle in the early hours of the morning, two strangers appeared and robbed them at gunpoint. As they walked away with the Hochstetlers' money, the robbers turned and shot the couple, killing Wilma and severely injuring her husband. Wilma's six-year-old son helped his father call 911.
