On September 13, 2020, Phillip Jordan Stevens was on his way to church with his pregnant wife when their car was rear-ended. Dangelo Dorsey had just killed his friend and shot a stranger in the face before ramming Jordan's car with a vehicle Dangelo had carjacked. When Jordan pulled over to handle the "accident," Dangelo took him and his wife hostage, forcing them to bring him to their home. Once there, he robbed them and forced them to leave with him again. As they traveled, Dangelo shot Phillip, leaving the 23-year-old's body along the interstate and continuing on with his widow. Finally the police located them and a high-speed chase ended in a nonfatal crash, after which Dangelo killed himself.
