On September 10, 2017, Scott Michael Stevens and Michaela Cheryl Gingras crossed paths. Lance Holloman was driving on the interstate with Michaela when he pulled out a gun and shot at 32-year-old Scott and his father, who were riding motorcycles nearby. Scott was fatally hit in the head. When Lance returned to his house, he also shot 24-year-old Michaela in the head. After killing Michaela, Lance called his ex-girlfriend Monicka Stinson several times. Despite being a police officer, Monicka did not tell anyone about the calls. Lance's sister LaToya Holloman and his mother Daphne Holloman were in their home with Michaela's body for hours — and had wrapped it in bedding, moved it, and cleaned the area of the shooting — by the time the authorities arrived. The three women were charged with interfering with the investigation in various ways.
