On August 28, 2016, Eugene Racine was killed by his daughter's ex-boyfriend. Anthony Macneill came to Eugene's house and shot the 47-year-old when he encountered him outside. Eugene's family believe he may have saved his daughter's life by being the first to confront Anthony; in fact, Anthony himself made several social media posts about the killing afterwards, and in one of them, he told Eugene's daughter, "You might not believe in God but I think whoever is in charge spared your life today."
