On August 26, 2005, Kayla Renee Burchett was asleep with her mother Tara in the early morning when she was shot to death. Clarence Goode broke into the home with two other men to seek revenge over a dispute with Tara's husband. In the process, he shot the 10-year-old Kayla in the head and back.
