On August 23, 2019, Nicholas John Hopkins was killed while raiding a crackhouse. Christopher Grant and Al Stewart were inside with a "cache of weapons" while Nick and other officers were secretly finishing their preparations on Christopher's front porch. Christopher noticed the activity, came to the door, and shot Nick, a 33-year-old father of three, in the side of the head.
