On August 22, 2017, Timothy Chase Humphries was shot in his driveway. Chase was getting ready for a fishing trip with a friend when teenagers Gerrard Wells and Tyler McKisick approached with a gun to rob him. According to Tyler, Gerrard became nervous and shot Chase in the stomach when the 22-year-old reached into his car for something. He later died in the hospital.
"I can't tell you how many people have told me that he was the best friend they ever had because that's the way he made people feel. He was always willing to lend a hand to a friend or a stranger," Chase's mother said. "His little sister and younger brother are lost without him, and his father and I will never be the same. His fiancée's life is shattered. He gave us all so much joy, and now we are left with emptiness in our hearts that can never be filled."
