On August 4, 2016, Dorothy Dow was lit on fire in her home. Justin Grady and Cortavious Heard had worked at Dorothy's family blueberry farm; looking for money, they broke into Dorothy's house with Shanquavious Cameron, Mina Ellery, and Angel Harmon. One of them beat the 83-year-old grandmother to the point that her arms and some of her fingers were broken. They disabled her telephone line, took the medical alert device from her neck, poured lighter fluid down her back, and set her on fire before leaving. She found some water to put out the flames and managed to crawl to get help, but she later died in the hospital.
