On July 14, 2020, Seth Titus Robertson was shot by a stranger in a cemetery. Seth and another man were working there when 22-year-old Joshua Hayes drove into the cemetery and began to shoot at them, chasing and killing Seth when he tried to flee. Joshua then pursued his other target through a nearby neighborhood, but an armed passerby shot Joshua dead just as he was about to shoot Seth's coworker in the head.
According to an attorney for the unnamed man who neutralized Joshua, "there's no question he saved at least one innocent life and perhaps multiple, because police said [Joshua] had a drum-style magazine in his handgun that still had a couple dozen rounds in it." Within two days of Joshua's truncated shooting spree, local police announced that the attack seemed to be unprovoked but was certainly not racially motivated.
