On July 6, 2015, John David Hester passed away. Teenagers Adrian Robinson, Brandon Wynn, Christian Glover, Derrick Phillips, I-Key Pinkins, Ty'Cameron Hayes, and Tykerious Jones were breaking into a house across the street from John's when he came out to his driveway to investigate and interrupted them. One of the robbers shot the 68-year-old in the leg with a stolen gun. John made his way back to his wife, bleeding heavily, and was taken to the hospital where he later died.
