On July 5, 2015, Carrie Jean Melvin was walking to dinner with her boyfriend when she was suddenly killed. Ezeoma Obioha had expressed romantic feelings to Carrie while she was working on an advertising campaign for his clothing business. She rejected his interest, and threatened to notify authorities when he wrote her a bad check for the work she'd done. So he shot her in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun.
