On July 4, 2020, Thomas Anthony Edelen was shot in the head. He was visiting Janosch Belle's home for a barbecue, and Janosch invited Thomas to his room to show the 18-year-old a semiautomatic rifle he had bought. After cleaning and reassembling the gun, Janosch inserted a magazine, chambered a round, pointed it at his guest and pulled the trigger. Explaining his actions to authorities later, the teenage killer said, "I just wasn't thinking."
