On July 3, 2014, Ronald Dale Smith died from ruptured organs after a severe beating. Willie Chambers, Anthony Davis-Dickson, and Tory Washington found the homeless 57-year-old lying under a tree in a park. The teens hit and stomped on Ronald, then beat him again when he got up and tried to walk away. At trial, Willie said he "kinda felt bad" about attacking the man and stealing some of his food.
