On June 26, 2018, Michael Stanley Gentry was found lying in the road. After suffering a serious injury as a young man, the 60-year-old had been confined to a wheelchair for most of his life. Known as "Thumbs Up Mike" because of his friendly attitude, he was shot in the back of the head as he crossed the street. A 16-year-old named Elijah Tart, who already had a felony record and matched a witness's description of the shooter, was arrested and charged with malice murder.

Four years later, Elijah pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter.

“Four years later, Elijah pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter.”

Wonder what's so involuntary about shooting someone into the back of the head?
