On June 23, 2019, Marlin Jordan died protecting his girlfriend. The young couple were on their way home from work when a stranger approached with a gun and demanded Marlin's wallet and his girlfriend's purse. Marlin shielded her body with his, and the robber opened fire, hitting Marlin several times but only grazing his girlfriend. Authorities released a sketch and description of the gunman, but he has not been located.
