On June 19, 2017, Kaytlynn Grace Cargill went to meet with another teen who lived in her apartment complex. The 14-year-old girl's body was found two days later in a nearby landfill, having been beaten to death. When authorities searched 16-year-old Jordin Roache's apartment, they found remnants of Kaytlynn's blood on a hammer, and also on several walls, floors, windows, and doors.
Jordin pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in early 2022. With credit for time served, he is expected to be released from prison in 2027.
