Perfectly normal and healthy reaction. So sweet and innocent and full of potential. Snuffed out for no reason at all by this... Thing. Sometimes I imagine the good ones to stick together and rid themselves of all subhumans in an epic battle. Then just go back about their lives and never talk about the purge again. Just imagine what we could achieve with no boat anchor holding us back. I know, it's a fantasy, like winning bigly in a lottery. A man can dream, can't he? We might want to think hard about getting together, playing in this lottery and buying as many tickets as possible. A day will come when all the tickets have been sold, all the grand prizes were given away and all metaphors are tired :). Our odds aren't improving.
