The languages share many words and the sentence structure is often the same, however the accent and cadence is noticeably different. In this video two women, one Spanish and one Italian speak their native language and try to guess what the other is saying. It goes pretty well.

The format is boring but I like those sister languages cross-examination. I'm french speaking Belgian and I love to see how much I understand when Spaniards, Italians, Portugues and Romanians speak. I've studied a little bit of Spanish and visited Spain often so I understand Spanish the best of these latin languages except for french of course. Even the nuance of french between France, Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec are interesting to analyze.
