So ignorant and insensitive.

Those are clearly apes not monkeys.

Worst part of this shitshow is that I have no idea what those markings on the apes are

I just don't get it, which is a fail for the artist btw, I and people in general, are not supposed to know secret codes to appreciate his/her work

>Artist Simone Fugazzotto said his painting featuring three monkeys to represent three different races was meant “to show that we are all the same race." Critics charge black players in European soccer are routinely taunted with "monkey" chants. (ANSA via The Associated Press)

Are those some sort of hypster secret codes?

That threw me of to at first too. I had no idea what he was trying to say.

I know nothing of soccer but I think it might be the different teams colors, and maybe fans paint their faces like that.

Like he's saying where all monkeys, but you think he would use different types of apes.

An orangutan, a gorilla, a chimp in different team colors or on the same team would of gotten his message across better.

At first I thought you were probably right because it would make actual sense

But then I searched images of "italian soccer fans face paint" and realized not only that patterns I was seeing had barely anything to do with the ones on the apes face, but also that they are all entirely different. While the markings on the apes faces are very similar in shape
