Water seeks its own level. The more you draw out of the ground, the more is drawn in to replace it. Sometimes that source is the ocean itself which by filtration through sediment becomes fresh groundwater. There's a spot about a mile off the coast of St. Augustine, Fl where you can fill barrels of fresh water from an undersea aquifer. It goes both ways. I'm surprised the article didn't mention the impact of dams. They create man-made lakes which add trillions of tons to areas mostly in the northern hemisphere which (here comes the panic!) makes the earth top heavy and is going to cause a catastrophic shift in the crust!

Thanks for posting the link, xR, but when you think about it, a nigger with a gun is a more pressing concern than any change in the sea level.
