That study is measuring plastic waste found on beaches, not out in the open ocean.

8 million metric tons ends up in the ocean. Between 6k and 240k tons ends up floating on the ocean surface. This means the open ocean. All of the microplastics showing up in organisms if from China and India dumping their garbage in the ocean. It is intellectually dishonest at this point to blame the western world. Why are there no calls for economic sanctions on India and China when they are responsible for >90% of the plastic pollution on the planet? Where is the pollution tax? Where is their "recycling program"? Where is there sanitation? Where is the outcry for them to be more socially responsible? You are a propagandist propagating a lie.

I'm telling you what the linked report says. If it's propaganda, talk to the authors.

I was talking to you because you were supporting the incorrect premises stated in the article. Propaganda lies only work if they are repeated without being challenged. I try to be careful and research the truth before I comment and yet I still make mistakes. The pro-China, anti-American gaslighting is rampant.
