I don't get it. The ozone is supposedly present because the hard ultraviolet rays from the sun dissociated the O2 molecules into two oxygen atoms, each of which reacted with other O2 molecules to produce O3. It just so happens that ozone stops ultraviolet light pretty well, and if it's gone, the ultraviolet light simply makes more ozone.
