Hydrogen as a fuel source is stupid. It easily escapes from tanks, making it uneconomical for consumer use.

True for gas H2. Not true for other forms like H2O

i like envisioning hydrogen as a fuel. its a bugger to trap in tanks and keep contained. i like the idea of using h2o and splitting it . eliminates many of the complications of using h2 . yes splitting h2o is energy intensive but imho nano catalysts will bring the energy costs into a range of feasibility

Ain't that bad if hillbillies from south America can read 6th grade science and make honda xr200 a water powered bike for pennies on dollar

Unlikely to ever be economically feasible without using waste heat from a reactor. Additionally H as a fuel is generally useless without compression into a liquid. Even with this, it severally limits range of current H-ICE technology. Which generally only stays in the tank for a couple of days. Which leaves fuel cells which are extremely expensive and high maintenance.

H as a fuel, in general, is a terrible idea.

Disagree.

economically feasible without using waste heat from reactor

Incorrect. Energy for splitting H2O by no means needs to come from a reactor.

H as liquid fuel

Incorrect. Fuel cells use gas H2, and internal combustion engines also use H2 as a gas.

H2 stays in tank only couple of days

Correct, H2 is notoriously difficult to contain. That's why I prefer H2O. No need for pressure tanks, or H2-filled aerogels or anything that could cause a Hindenburg-type event

Fuel Cells expensive and high maintenance

Somewhat correct. Nearly everything in a free market economy starts out expensive and high maintenance, with costs lowering over time as product and technical advances occur. Fuel Cells in 2023 are orders of magnitude more efficient and less cost than fuel cells from decades ago

I encourage you to do more research. Everything I stated is completely accurate. Don't stop until you understand why my statements are correct.

For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJjKwSF9gT8

Hydrogen is energy storage, not a fuel source. People who don't understand this wind up confused as to why H is a terrible fuel source.
