There's a book called 'War Day' that follows survivors of a limited nuclear exchange that severely damages several US cities. The main character returns to NYC to see what's changed in the years since. One new thing is that people are going building by building mining them for valuable materials and selling them to others outside the radiation zone. I have to imagine that a few years under occupation by no one but niggers, the city would be in a similar condition.
