Think in terms of the story you just read. A car started itself, moved itself, and identified itself for a repo person.
Now, I understand there aren't any manual transmission cars that are going to start themselves and move themselves for you, but in terms of the story if there were, leaving it in neutral would prevent that. That's all, nothing else. The point is almost moot anyway, there are almost no manual transmission cars left - even supercars are made for sissies that can't handle a stick in their hands.
Lots of manuals left, my wife has one. I drive it regularly
Both of my cars are manuals. I can't replace either one of them because Ford no longer makes the one, and Subaru no longer offers a manual in the other.
They're almost extinct in new cars.
