Dating sites openly claim bots in the ToS. They claim the bots are for entertainment, and that the entire site is ment for entertainment in general. They cover their ass when it comes to being sued for users not finding others to date for any reason, but especially due to the use of bots.

The purpose of the bots of course is to keep lonely fools hooked on the subscription.

I would assume it doesn't stop with bots either, they probably have a few paid employees with hundreds of fake accounts to prey on the slightly less dumb users. Oh and.. don't forget about the scammers and sextortionist looking to defraud legitimate users.
