Did it work without being hooked to a battery before? Maybe you had it hooked up when you charged that battery before you turned it on.
I have several chargers, a couple of them won't work properly unless connected to a battery.
Try hooking it to a battery. Then powering it up. It isn't going to put out enough in a few minutes of monitoring it as a test, to hurt anything.
That said, I wouldn't use a battery connected to a vehicle right now. Some of those electronics can be susceptible to small voltage spikes.
Thank you. As I recall (have owned it for many years), the led display kind of does a welcome then goes dark. That’s when first plugging it in I mean (no battery connected because there are menu options you can set before putting a battery on it then presing start.
I’ll plug it in then put a battery on it (detached from vehicle) to see if that makes a difference since I haven’t tried that yet).
