I have a new project where I'm taking an old monitoring device I designed years ago, and updating it to the modern age. I've been out of the loop for so long that I have no visibility on this type of device. It's just going to read some outputs from current monitors (0-3ish VDC) and convert them to be sent to a DCS.

What does Poal have? 12 bit may work, but I'd like some decent resolution.

To get around the price, contact TI or Analog Devices Marketing, tell them you are a college student and need a couple 16 bit A/D with mux for your project... National Semiconductor used to send out sample packs of 5 devices for free to Engineering students. It will help if you know the part number that you need. I don't know if that is still the case, but it doesn't hurt to ask. They did this to foster a relationship with potential future Design/Device Engineers that could be ordering thousands of devices later in their career.

It's a device for my employer, so $10-15 per piece is fine, we only need a few. But I will see if I can get a "sample" from our reps, will see what they have.
