You will find no greater advocate for yourself than yourself. So, if you'll except what I'm pretending is good advice, try to find that niche. Surely, there's something you excel at and people are willing to pay for.
This, of course, assumes that you want to work for you - as opposed to working for someone else. When you're an employee, you're working to make someone else money. When you're the employer, even with a single proprietorship, you're more working to make yourself money.
Of course, you'll never work harder than you will when you work for yourself - so there's that. Still, many successful businesses started off as side-projects. There's a lot of people interested in that over on HackerNews and they're often looking for help. There are also investors that crawl all over that site, looking to fund the next big thing.
You may be able to take advantage of something like that. You may even be able to parlay something like this site into something larger, though I'm not sure how many HN investors are going to be willing to invest in free speech. Still, assuming you can stomach it, it appears to be a good resource for some people.
And, I'm almost home. Time to disconnect from the VPN, head into the house, and get situated. Someone else smashed my snow for me! Alas, it's high time that I learn to let other people do things for me. I learned it in business, but it doesn't seem to overlap as well as it should with my private life. When it comes to business, I can delegate fairly well - though that wasn't true at first. In my personal life, I'm pretty stubborn and prone to tackling everything on my own, even declining true offers of assistance.
At my age, and with my current health, it's about time I get some wisdom and actually realize that I'm no longer a spring chicken. As it is, I have had to ask someone to assist me with this year's deer hunt. I was supposed to go on Friday, but they had something come up that would have meant we had to leave the woods early. So, I still haven't made it out to hunt.
It's tentatively scheduled for Thursday morning. It's tough asking for help. Yes, I have things that I'm really not good at. That's one of them. I'm working on it.
What does that have to do with the topic at hand? No man is an island and you may well need to ask for help with your attempt at starting a business, or searching for ways to increase your income. A search engine is probably a good place to start.
Alas, I must go indoors. I might be back later. I dunno. My nurse is already here and they'll soon be giving me some opiates by IV. There's some chance that it makes me sleep. Other than that, I ain't even gotta carry my own guitars into the house! Sweet... I am probably gonna con EH into restringing and cleaning them!
Oops... I forgot to hit the submit button in my haste to get inside!
