USB connections on phones are prone to dust and grime, especially if your case doesn't have a port flap. Kinked cables also contribute to ineffeciency. My phone is about 5 years old now and can only charge by wireless connection.
With the advent of non removable batteries, there's not much else you can do besides uninstall unnessecary apps.
The dust can be carefully removed with a toothpick.
Non-replaceable batteries are cancer because they force users to either use their phone frugally or prematurely wear down the battery.
