Don't let China's incompetence become a smokescreen for their intentional actions. It is very likely that the car was conciously designed to not have manual overrides.

Don't get drawn in by your EV hate. Almost all new vehicles are now drive-by-wire. They no longer have a steering column, but operate like a racing sim rig. I personally don't want any vehicle newer than 2012 I think when the feds mandated the black box to benefit insurance companies. You no longer have physical control over your vehicle. I prefer my IDI diesel rigs.
