Don't try to put words in my mouth. I never said I believed what the official said. I said "I'm not sure what he could glean from any software or data that might be on the machine."

You pasted this '“It is a tablet for handicapped voters. No election data is on it. It was never used by the public and I’m the only person who voted on it in six or seven years,” Stoddard said. “The MSP is investigating and I’m not sure what happened.”

Which is what i'm directly referring to. My comment to that was in essence 'Why would one believe what they say with regard to what is on the VAT without an accurate forensic analysis to actually know for certain ??'

'"I'm not sure what he could glean from any software or data that might be on the machine."'

A thorough Forensic analysis !!.

Edit : We are fairly certain they are committing crimes , but it's illegal to investigate their criminal activity .... even just to 'verify No election data is on it. It was never used by the public and I’m the only person who voted on it in six or seven years'.

So what? Pasting the pertinent reference info straight from the article is typical on POAL. Where did I say I agreed with any of it? You're making false assumptions and creating your own conniption. Did I need to spell out that I thought the official was probably full of shit? I think most all of us immediately think that after all we have seen over the past few years.

We essentially agree they have weaponized the law to prevent their crimes from being exposed, I too would have loved to see a forensic analysis on this machine, just to know if it was used in 2020, what could be learned from any remaining software or data. And to chase the chain of custody for that machine.

I understand why the buyer checked on it before tearing into it. The persecution would be intense if they could pin a violation on him, apparently the guy wasn't willing to take that risk.

Yes, and the only way to find out was via a thorougher Forensic examination. It was a missed opportunity and now no-one will ever know being the point.

One key point I didnt get around to making. There was no chain of custody for the machine, so any program or data may be corrupted from post election activity. A twist to consider would be what if it was purposefully loaded with fake programs/data and sold as a DS trap for a forensic examiner to trip up on in an attempt to discredit the whole forensic effort. It seems suspicious to see a late model voting machine from MI conveniently pop up on eBay 2 months before the midterms.
