It's not 100% bad. It depends on what steps you are taking to make sure losers understand they lost fairly. If your steps include building and administrating a secure and transparent election then that's not a bad thing.
I suppose it's really on how you interpret it.
"A republic if you can keep it" can come across as a threat and "losers recognize they lost fairly" can be akin to "It doesn't matter who votes, but who counts the votes."
