Alright, so Skyrim melee is bad. Really bad. There's no thinking to it, just run in, and heavy attack until you run out of fatigue. Whoever has the most HP wins. It sucks. So, here's some mods I use, that do a pretty good job at unfucking it.

Wildcat - Combat of Skyrim

LE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76529

SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1368

So, what this mod does, is it makes you take and deal tons more damage. Also, taking damage has a very high chance being staggered, meaning taking one hit, will probably end the battle for your sorry ass. It also goes the other way. At various health thresholds, combatants will suffer various combat changing wounds, that won't go away until the combatant is fully healed again. This mod will make combat swift, brutal, and heavily avoidance oriented.

TK Dodge

LE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20923/

SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/15309

Adds a quick dodge to the game, that also includes invulnerability frames. With Wildcat making avoidance heavily necessary, this mod helps you survive combat.

Mortal Enemies - De-aimbot Your Foes

LE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73921/

SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4881/

Because what's the point of adding a dodge, if enemies are just going aimbot at you at all times anyway? This mod fixes that.

Revenge Of the Enemies 2016

LE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40491

SE: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2969/

Rewrites the enemy AI, and gives them far more skills and talents. Regular enemies are now borderline world boss tier on their own. Mixed with Wildcat, you might as well just stick your head between your legs, and kiss your ass goodbye.

I haven't played that, but a lot of people compare this setup to it, yeah.

Sounds fun, might give it a whirl next time I load up Skyrim.
