There was an explanation. He got popped for a DUI in 2023. He completed some bullshit feel good program instead of jail time. The administration just decided it no longer counted.
Try the same shit in any country while on a student visa. You'd get kicked out immediately. He should be thankful he got to stay as long as he did.
