Technically, I didn't use my degree either but my employers wanted to see it anyway. Today, not so much.

Most employers see any degree as a sign you will FINISH something that requires a significant amount of time and money. That's it. I do this cybersecurity shit but I don't have a degree for it. No one should waste their time on any IT degree.

Exactly. I have a bachelor's and master's. I'm in IT and no one but my idiot director cares. He wants me to get a second masters so he can brag about it. I've refused and now he uses it as an excuse to never give me a raise though no one else on my team even has one. It's just a status symbol to the pajeets and proof you can get through bullshit to everyone else.

I never had the need for a college degree. Getting one was just a goal I had set for myself because I was a 10th grade HS drop-out. I ended up graduating at the top of my class.

Considering I still see "Bs required, Ms preferred" for entry-level tech jobs, employers are still expecting you to have it.

I've even seen some mid-career positions with "PhD preferred" on them. No doctorate is going to take your $18/hr job, Kumar. That's not even entry pay.

I'm guessing those are listings targeting the indians with their diploma mill diplomas.

I'm not sure. No doubt, some of them are, but I've seen a few that were citizen only.
