My big beef was ALWAYS the standardized testing. The schools always made such a big deal out of them (it gets down to money, of course), my daughter was a terrible tester, and it stressed her out before, during, and after. I started opting her out. I got harassed, she got harassed, but I stuck to our guns and eventually they left us alone. So stupid. So counter productive. Wish I could go back and homeschool. Daughter is in graduate school now and doing great.

Yes, I remember getting so upset during those tests. It's silly but i cried once during the math portion bc I thought I was doing so bad, turns out I did pretty well on it.

They use them to grade how well the teachers are doing even though it's not a very accurate way to tell that. And of course fr money.

Knew that, I think it did more damage than anything else when our youngest was in kinder garden(yes that has homework too every day) it was retarded then and it still is.

yup, and I feel like I do just as much work with her now with homeschooling than I did when she was in ps.

but at least it isn't 6 hours in school a day then, hours of homework after words. She might struggle against her work but she has a manageable amount. I've seen her get enthusiastic about doing the work its not every day but it does happen, and I never once saw her get excited about home work.
