If you are home-schooling, and this isn't part of the curriculum, you're doing it wrong. From such acorns mighty oaks are grown.

Fuck yes! And tomorrow go rent a lane for a couple hours and get some dad/son time in with a .22

Oh, and go out and get root beer floats after.

Dads and kids time with the same whole crew. Practicing volley fire by ranks. "First rank advance. First rank kneel. First rank present! Fire! Second rank advance!..." Teamwork is important.

Beats little league and midget football all to hell.

Then root beer floats, of course.

“Beavis, this is the most awesome thing ever!”

Shut up dilhole!

Meh-heh-heh-hehehe!

Kids with swords!

He he he!

They really should be practicing guerilla tactics, but this is a solid start.

Always start with the fundamentals. Building block approach. Crawl, walk, run. They need to understand the "why" behind the "how".

I was going to say almost the same word for word lol thanks

You make a solid point, I guess we won’t always have ammo around to aggressively change our enemies thought processes.

How do I solve problems? That would depend on how far away they are. How many times have "enemies thought processes" been changed simply by the apparent readiness of their opponents to dispute the matter in question with steel (or bronze)?

Philip II of Macedon to Sparta: "Should I come as friend or foe?"

Sparta's reply: "Neither."

Losing patience with them, he sent the message: "If I invade Laconia, I shall turn you out."

Sparta: "If."

I like that the spear looks real. Looks like just carved wood not metal but I'm sure that could easily do a lot of damage/kill. Keeps the kids on their toes.

Flank on right and left no protection!!

And perhaps that is just a ruse to invite an attack on that flank.

It's a common mistake to believe that the shield wall is a purely static defensive tactic. It is not. It's fluid and adaptable to the situation.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiKIJXXSjNk

The Koreans clearly said to themselves, "Why reinvent the wheel when it's already been done?" What you are seeing is a modern application of Roman century level tactics. Every formation and movement is straight out of the Roman legions play-book. Steal only from the best.

It's fluid and adaptable to the situation.

The virgin shield wall vs the Chad phalanx.

You have it exactly backwards. The shield wall was just one of the shield-based tactics of the Roman Legion. The Legion broke the use of the phalanx. The Vikings merely adapted it's use to their tactics because they'd seen the Romans success with it.

This is why you're single.

Once again, you have it exactly backwards. At this rate, you could almost be used as a perfect reverse compass.

I am a retired SF E-8 (7th Group) with 6 adult kids and 4 grandkids. I have plenty of time on my hands now to indulge my interest in history.

Defending the homestead from spear-chuckers

Only in order to soak up and deflect the initial attack. Once the attack has been broken, the real casualties are created during the breakout and pursuit phase, as you hunt down what remains of the enemy forces and destroy them in detail. Don't forget to raze their villages. Remember the proper order though; Loot, Pillage, then Burn.
