I took a graduate course in reading Latin because I wanted to be able to read the great Latin writers in their original language. I forgot everything I learned in about three months, but I did come away with an appreciation for the language. Latin is unbelievably elegant. There is no more precise, compact, poetic language in the world than Latin. The way it's structured is like the way the Romans built the Colosseum. Everything supports everything else. You can say more in a Latin sentence than you can say in a paragraph of English.
