It's a number of factors:

- The complete lack of value of some colleges, regardless of affordability. People are starting to wise up to the fact that you don't actually need a college degree for a large number of jobs. In fact some schools are simply just 4 year parties.
- Many students will migrate to virtual schools
- At some point, the government-driven subsidies will end. It isn't sustainable.

If you're not doing STEM or law at university, you have no business being there. And this is coming from someone outside of the US where most of the degrees aren't glorified highschool with extraneous garbage. The sheer amount of pointless crap you guys have to do at "college" just to get a piece of paper that means sweet fuck all, boggles the mind.
