This was just because of coronavirus leading to closed schools poor exam performance this year, not because of anything to do with diversity.
You can already get into Oxford with zero A levels for several courses such as Music, which is entirely assessed by audition only and has no A level or essay based entry requirements.
Also for a lot of such courses at any university, a lot of mature students can already bypass entry requirements by demonstrating alternative life experiences.
I could if I wanted, and have been considering approaching any university to do another Music degree and simply audition my demos. If I was willing to pay for another course as such, I would have no trouble getting onto one. The issue being though how expensive and thus a waste of time it would be to do a second degree as I cannot get a second student loan.
