I don't see anything wrong with the woman's logic. Also, If you don't tell me BEFORE I order that there is an automatic gratuity that is a great way for me to get to the register and say "oh, well then fuck off, throw the food away im not paying".
There is a poll on the article asking if "Should restaurants add an automatic tip for self-service?". The answer is, if you want anyone to go to your restaurant, no. If I went somewhere that did that and I didn't just refuse to pay it would be the last time I ever went there and I would advise anyone else not to. I am fucking tried of this over-tipping shit especially after a half dozen states made the minimum wage for fast food workers double what it was before. Not that I eat that garbage anyway.

Tips are a fucking joke. It's not my job to pay your workers. Tips should only be given for service that goes above and beyond what is expected.
