wait they name shake shack as the most expensive, but then go on to say five guys and a couple other chains are even more expensive?
All fast food is out of reach now. I just don't go. Instead, if I'm hungry and want fast food, I go to any local grocery store where they sell a variety of things like sandwiches, hamburgers, pizza and so on for half of what fast food chains do. Yea, it's not as good, but I'm hungry. I'm not looking for an overpriced gourmet experience.
Forget Starbucks, Peets, Costa and Dunkin Donuts.
When I was a hungry teen, my football teammates and I could head to McDonalds on a Tuesday after practice and buy hamburgers for $0.29 each. Cheeseburgers were $0.39 each. Any day or night of the week, we could go to CiCi’s pizza for a $2.99 all you can eat and an extra $0.99 for the drink cup.
I feel super old reminiscing on that.
I understand, unfortunately.
At this point, if you plan ahead you can just order "to-go" at about any sit-down and it will cost the same or less than fast food and will be (in some cases) better quality and will be of more quantity if you are going for that.
It's insane, they think you want to spend $34 to sit in a drive through for (maybe) two people's food at the best. "Fast Food" used to be "cheap".
I wouldn't say it was ever cheap. It was a lot less expensive 10 years ago, yes. But once you bought a burger, fries and a drink, it was getting close to casual dining.
