We have Ace hardware by me. I hope they stay viable. It's nice when you need something quick and are willing to a pay a little extra to not have to wander around a big box store trying to find it.

same. ours is locally owned. same crew of guys and gals who know the store inside and out. when you're a homeowner this stuff is invaluable.

Ours is staffed by people who actually know handyman work and they are easy to find. Most of the people I talk to at the box stores know less than I do. No good when you have an actual question about a product.

The last time I was in one was probably about 10 years ago. The selection was garbage, the staff were rude and everything was overpriced. They still had free stale popcorn though.....

The True Value chain didn't file, it was their supplier who also had the same name.

The supplier is majority owned by a capital company. Go figure.

Maybe if they stayed open past 4pm.
